UPI and bank transfers

NPCI owns and operates UPI, and says a third-party app provider takes part in UPI through a member bank. Google's Wallet page for India does not list UPI. For more on this, see WhatsApp Pay vs Google Wallet in India: Why only one does UPI.
Tap-to-pay and credit card tokenisation
In India, Google's help page for tap-to-pay sits under Google Pay. It needs an Android phone with NFC and a card from a supported bank that issues Mastercard, RuPay or Visa cards. You tap your phone on a card machine to pay.
The RBI's FAQ on device-based tokenisation describes it as replacing actual card details with an alternate code called a token. The RBI says actual card details are not shared with the merchant during transaction processing.
Users often search for Google Wallet tap to pay in India. Google's Wallet help says India-issued cards are handled in the Google Pay app, so look there for tap-to-pay with your credit cards.
